Megan W. Arbour, PhD, CNM, FACNM earned her degrees in midwifery and nursing at The Ohio State University in Columbus, OH. After practicing clinically for several years in Columbus, OH, Megan followed her passion for educating future midwives and served as an Associate Professor of Clinical Nursing at the University of Cincinnati in Cincinnati, OH for roughly 9 years. Dr. Arbour currently serves as the American College of Nurse-Midwives (ACNM) Education Policy Section Chair of the Division of Education, a capacity in which she influences midwifery education policy across the country. She is also the section chair of the Quality Maternity Care Systems Section of the ACNM Healthy Birth Initiative. In 2014 Megan chaired the ACNM taskforce that wrote Master’s Competencies for Midwifery Education, and most recently chaired the ACNM Sleep and Safety Taskforce. The Sleep and Safety Taskforce developed and received approval of a position statement addressing sleep and safety for midwives and midwifery students across the country. Megan is passionate about working with students and developing new ways to disseminate curriculum. In collaborative teams with midwifery and nursing faculty throughout the country, Megan has an extensive scholarly presence with presentations and publications in many peer-reviewed journals on topics that pertain to innovation in nursing and midwifery education, with a particular focus on distance-based education.
