Graduation Preparation Checklist


  • Verify eligibility (see portal list for criteria)

  • Invite guests - Family and friends are welcome! NOTE: There isn’t a limit on the number of guests you may bring and we estimate that the ceremony will last approximately 2.5 hours. There is a lobby adjacent to the ceremony space where guests can go to take a break if needed.

  • Arrange travel, including hotel if needed. See portal page for info on local accommodations.

  • Register to attend using this form.

  • Order cap & gown via Jostens online store (see details on portal page) at least 4 weeks prior to event.

  • Watch virtual rehearsal video to be posted on portal by mid-August.

  • (Optional) Submit photos to for consideration to be included in the graduate video. Note: Image files that are not labeled with the full name of the submitter and the class name/number cannot be used. Photos must depict relevant FNU related activities.

  • (Optional) Send the FNU provided press release to your local media - CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD TEMPLATE, then customize and send.



  • Allow at least 20 minutes to park and find your way inside to the FNU ceremony registration desk. Park in any of the public lots near The Lexington Center. We recommend the large lot between High & Maxwell Streets shown in green and purple on map.

  • 10-11:00 am EST Check in to the FNU ceremony registration desk. Fill out a name card to keep with you for stage presentation.

  • Help your guests find their seats and leave with them any items you do not wish to carry in the processional.

  • 11:30 am Report directly to graduate dressing area for final instructions and processional lineup.

  • 11:45 am Processional line up - behind the flag that represents your degree or specialty. Have name card ready to hand to announcer when it’s your turn to cross the stage.

  • 12 pm Processional - Faculty will process in first, followed by all students. Marshalls will direct you to your seats.

  • Approx. 2:30-3:00 pm Ceremony conclusion - Students and their guests may linger for photographs, etc.

Video will be posted in late August. All those participating in commencement are required to watch.
