Frontier Bound Housing and Travel form- After accepting an offer of admission and being assigned a Frontier Bound date, students can complete this form to indicate travel and secure housing arrangements.
Clinical Bound Housing and Travel form- After being assigned a CB date by an RCF, students can complete this form to indicate travel and secure housing arrangements.
Frontier Bound Campus Arrival & Departure:
Arrival on Campus- between 12:00 - 4:00 pm EST on the first day of your scheduled Frontier Bound.
Departure from Campus- Frontier Bound programming ends at 1:00 pm EST on the last day (Day Three). All Frontier Bound students must depart by 4:00 pm EST on Day Three.
Clinical Bound Campus Arrival & Departure:
Arrival on Campus- Monday between 12:00-4:00 pm EST
Departure from Campus- Friday 1:00 pm EST (grab and go lunch provided)
Please check the Academic Calendar for the exact start and end dates for Frontier and Clinical Bounds. Most Frontier Bounds start on Monday, but some start on a Sunday or later in the week. Clinical Bounds begin on Mondays and end on Fridays, but due to holidays, they occasionally begin a day earlier or later.
Travel:
Students are responsible for making their travel arrangements to and from campus, including any situation involving unexpected travel plan changes. FNU provides transportation to and from Lexington Blue Grass Airport for an additional fee.
Air Travel:
If traveling by air, compare the cost of flying into Cincinnati, OH, Louisville, KY, and Lexington, KY.
Lexington Blue Grass Airport (LEX)- 6 miles from Campus
Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG)- 88 miles from campus
Louisville International Airport (SDF)- 65 miles from Campus
Transportation is only provided from the Lexington, KY airport to the Versailles Campus for an additional fee. If flying into another airport, you are responsible for your travel to FNU’s campus.
Driving:
The FNU Versailles Campus is on Google Maps: 2050 Lexington Road, Versailles, KY 40383. When you arrive on campus, you will pass through a security gate where a guard will ask your name before directing you to the parking lot behind the Welcome Center. Please park and make your way to the Welcome Center. FNU Staff will greet you, check you in, and help you get your luggage to your room.
Travel Delays:
If your arrival to campus is delayed, please email housing@frontier.edu to inform FNU of your late arrival.
Meals:
FNU proudly serves meals in our Dining Hall, which is also available to students for coffee, tea, and other snacks 24/7 while bound is in session. Please note that while FNU does not serve soft drinks, they are available for purchase in a vending machine (credit card only) on the lower level of the Dining Hall (outside the Gift Shop). The Student Lodges all have kitchenettes if you want to bring refrigerated items. For Frontier Bounds and Clinical Bounds, Lunch is not provided on Day 1. Supper is provided on Day 1. Grab-n-go snacks, coffee, tea, and water are provided all day.
Dietary Needs:
FNU can accommodate many dietary needs. Please indicate any dietary needs on the Campus Housing & Travel form.
Housing:
Housing is provided to students in three Student Lodges. In each bedroom, you will find two XL twin beds fitted with two pillows, a flat sheet, a fleece blanket and a lightweight quilt. Each Student Lodge has community bathrooms, private toilets, and shower stalls on each floor. Other items that the university provides are washcloths, body towels, closets with hangers to hang clothes, a kitchenette with a microwave, full size refrigerator, limited utensils, and dinnerware (please note that we do not allow open flames in the dorms: this includes candles, hot plates, smoking, etc.).
Early Arrival or Late Departure:
FNU will attempt to accommodate students who need to arrive a day prior or depart a day later for their campus event. Students will indicate on their Travel and Housing form if they wish to check-in a day early or check-out a day late. The Campus Operations Coordinator will review the forms and send a confirmation email if FNU can accommodate the student. There is a fee of $52 per night. Meals will not be served during this time, but the Dining Hall will be open 24/7 for snacks and refreshments. The Fitness Center will also be available. Students should be aware that if they arrive early or stay late, they may be the only person on Campus (aside from Security on Campus 24/7).
Early Arrival = 10 am EST the day prior to the start of their FB or CB.
Late Departure = 3 pm EST the day after the end of their FB or CB.
Students should not plan for early arrival or late departure until after they have received confirmation from FNU Housing. In some cases, Campus events are held back to back, and FNU cannot accommodate an early arrival or late departure.
What to Pack:
When packing, please plan for traditional Kentucky Bluegrass weather and make sure to check the forecast before your arrival. Packing suggestions:
- A lightweight jacket or sweater for comfort in cool buildings
- Hiking or exercise clothing for the use of our 5k walking trail and/or fitness room
- Comfortable walking shoes, our beautiful Campus totals 65 acres.
- Bathrobe & shower shoes- for shared bathroom accommodations
- Pocket umbrella or rain jacket
- Comfortable clothing for class and instruction
- Personal toiletries
Accommodations:
Guests needing assistance physically navigating campus should indicate the accommodation on the Campus Housing & Travel form.
Gift Shop:
The FNU on-campus gift shop will have unique items unavailable on our online gear store. The on-campus gift shop is located downstairs from the Dining Hall.
Tobacco-free Campus:
FNU is a tobacco-free campus. Please see the Tobacco Use Policy in the FNU Catalog.
Information for nursing parents:
Students may be able to bring infants aged six months or younger and/or their breastfeeding child when accompanied by an appropriate care provider and based on the available space. Additional guests and/or children are not permitted on campus. The care provider, child, and the student will be assigned housing at FNU if available on a first-come, first-serve basis; additional fees will apply. Please review the policy in the Catalog. Students MUST get permission from and make arrangements with the Campus Operations Coordinator no later than the term before attending CB and within two weeks of having been admitted for Frontier Bound. When completing the Campus Housing & Travel form, please indicate this under the special accommodations section.
Staying off campus:
Students are expected to stay on campus for the required campus visits. Students may elect to stay off campus but will miss opportunities to connect with fellow students and build relationships that support their success at FNU. There is no reduction in fees for staying off campus.
