After graduating from Vanderbilt University in 2000, with a BS in Comparative Religion, Kendra moved to Lexington, Kentucky and attended the Lexington Healing Arts Academy to become a Licensed Massage Therapist. For nine years, she was a labor doula, childbirth educator, and specialized in pregnancy massage. She supported many women in childbirth and observed what wonderful experiences her clients had with midwives!
In 2007, Kendra returned to school to become a registered nurse. While working as a Labor and Delivery nurse (labor and birthing nurse per Kitty Ernst) and Postpartum nurse, she finished her MSN at Frontier Nursing University in May of 2012. Kendra worked as a full-scope practice CNM at Frankfort Regional Medical Center and then with WomanKind Midwives- a midwife-owned practice. While working towards her DNP, Kendra worked at KYOne OBGYN Associates seeing antepartum and postpartum patients in the office and inpatient setting. In April of 2019, Kendra completed her DNP at Yale University. Her capstone project was titled "Accuracy in reporting of Kentucky's Certified Nurse-Midwives as birth attendant in birth registration data."
Kendra is an active member of the American College of Nurse Midwives and encourages all students to become members and attend the annual conferences. Kendra has 3 children: 1 biological and 2 adopted. Her daughter was born naturally using HypnoBirthing, (which Kendra HIGHLY recommends!) There were much harder "labor pains" during a two year international adoption process from Haiti. When she isn't teaching or taxi-ing teenagers around, she enjoys gardening, and reading (as in for fun). Kendra is married to a fellow Yale DNP graduate , Joshua Faucett, who teaches in the FNP program. They enjoy weight-lifting, learning and teaching about optimal aging, and embarrassing their teenagers.
