Santa Fe, NM

Santa Fe Birth Center (SFBC) is a non-profit center seeking a compassionate, confident, enterprising midwife to help establish a newly opening center. She is confident in the physiological birth process and in women's bodies' ability to birth in a natural, non-medical setting. She is deeply committed to developing trusting relationships with individual women from pregnancy to postpartum. She must be skilled in providing full scope midwifery care including: prenatal, antenatal, and newborn care. Expertise in well woman care is important. She is able to work independently but also enjoys working collaboratively with a team, has excellent communication skills, and takes pleasure in promoting family centered, culturally sensitive care in Santa Fe's diverse community. She maintains collegial relationships with CNMs working at the nearby hospital as well as with adjunct service providers.

SFBC's warm physical environment in a newly renovated adobe home is entered through a four season garden, has three clinic rooms, a kitchen/dining room, and a living/reception/library. Two birth rooms accommodate differing birthing styles and include soaking tubs, adjustable heat and lighting, and operable windows.

SFBC's mission is to provide a satisfying birth choice for women who desire support through birth's physiological process and who wish to be attended by practitioners who are knowledgeable and skilled in techniques facilitating the healthy birth process and who are also able to assess conditions outside the birth center's scope of care and make appropriate referrals.
