Questions?
- Is FNU a Yellow Ribbon institution?
No. FNU is not eligible to participate in the Yellow Ribbon program, but for a good reason. FNU’s tuition and fees do not meet or exceed the annual VA eligibility disbursement, which is required to be an approved Yellow Ribbon institution.
- Will my clinical rotation be certified as distance learning or residential?
Distance. Since FNU doesn’t own or is directly associated with the clinical site we are not permitted to certify clinical hours as residential.
- What fees do the VA consider ineligible?
Frontier Bound ($575 subject to change), Clinical Bound ($325 subject to change), Late Registration ($50 subject to change), Program/Track Change ($100 subject to change). Although the VA considers BT101 an eligible fee ($100 subject to change), the student must pay the fee first and the VA will reimburse.
- Can I receive Financial Aid in addition to my VA benefits?
Yes. You will want to begin the process by completing the required financial aid documents and connecting with Financial Services. Financial aid disbursements will most likely be received and posted to your student ledger before your VA benefits. Therefore, your financial aid will be used to pay your tuition and fees and when VA funds are received they will be delivered to you as a residual.
- How do I receive residual funds?
Funds can be sent by check or direct deposit. For security reasons and quicker delivery, direct deposit is strongly recommended.
- I don’t have enough benefits to cover my program?
You can choose which terms you want to be certified with the VA. Typically, students will select terms that have higher tuition/fee charges. You will want to communicate which term(s) you don’t want to be certified to Michelle Beck at vabenefits@frontier.edu.
- If I Withdraw from a course or the University, is it reported to the VA?
Yes, and it may generate a debt letter.
- What does FNU consider full-time and half-time?
Full-time is 5 or more credits and Half-time if 4 or less credits.
- I receive chapter 35, will the VA pay for partial months?
The VA pays a percentage of the full month’s rate based on the number of days that you’re enrolled in the month. They call this a prorated payment. For example, if a term starts on the 20th, you would get a payment for the last 10 days of enrollment for that month.
