Biography
Khara’ Jefferson, a Louisiana native, has a Bachelor of Science in Biology (2000) and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (2006) from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Khara’ was a seventh-grade science teacher before embarking upon a career in healthcare. She worked as an emergency department registered nurse before obtaining her Master of Science in Nursing degree from the University of South Alabama in 2011. She is a certified Family Nurse Practitioner through the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and has practiced in urgent care centers, telehealth, and emergency departments. She obtained her Doctor of Nursing Practice from Frontier Nursing University (FNU) in March 2017 and started working as course faculty in the DNP Program. She developed a passion for quality improvement (QI) and has published several articles related to health and wellness. She worked as an assistant professor and she became the Program Director for the DNP program in September 2021.
Khara’ enjoys reading, traveling, shopping, and discussing gut health. Her ultimate passion is serving patients while on mission trips around the world.
