Biography
Dr. Gayle is a Caribbean-American healthcare leader, nurse-midwife, educator, and advocate whose career has been defined by a commitment to advancing health equity, improving maternal healthcare outcomes, and mentoring the next generation of nursing professionals. Born and raised in South Florida, she brings a diverse range of clinical, academic, and leadership experiences to her work in nursing education and women's healthcare.
A proud two-time graduate of Frontier Nursing University, Dr. Gayle earned degrees from both the Nurse-Midwifery program and the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program. Her educational journey reflects a lifelong dedication to professional growth and excellence in patient care. Beginning her healthcare career as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in 2003, she steadily advanced through the nursing profession, gaining valuable experience across multiple roles and healthcare settings. Her progression through the nursing ladder serves as a testament to her perseverance, leadership, and commitment to serving diverse patient populations.
Throughout her career, Dr. Gayle has lived and worked in several regions of the United States, including Florida, New York, Washington, and Maryland. These experiences have provided her with a broad perspective on healthcare delivery systems and the unique challenges faced by communities across the country. As a full-scope certified nurse-midwife practicing in Washington and Maryland, she provided comprehensive care to women and families throughout the lifespan, including prenatal, intrapartum, postpartum, gynecologic, and reproductive healthcare services.
A central focus of Dr. Gayle’s professional mission has been addressing health disparities and combating institutionalized racism within the United States healthcare system. She is deeply committed to advancing equitable healthcare practices and advocating for systemic changes that improve outcomes for historically marginalized populations. Her work is guided by the belief that all individuals deserve access to high-quality, culturally responsive healthcare regardless of race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, or geographic location.
In 2021, Dr. Gayle joined the faculty of Frontier Nursing University, where she has made significant contributions to both academic and clinical education. She has served as faculty in the Nurse-Midwifery Program and as the Clinical Transition Coordinator for the Nurse-Midwifery and Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner tracks. In these roles, she has supported students as they transition from academic preparation to clinical practice, fostering confidence, competence, and professional development.
Dr. Gayle has also contributed to several innovative educational initiatives. Among her notable accomplishments is serving as the initiator and co-collaborator of the Labor Skills Workshop, an experiential learning program designed to strengthen students’ clinical skills and readiness for practice. This initiative reflects her dedication to creating meaningful educational experiences that bridge the gap between classroom learning and clinical application.
Currently, Dr. Gayle serves as the Course Coordinator for DNP 801: Fundamentals of Business and Finance in Advancing Healthcare. Through this role, she helps prepare doctoral nursing students to become effective leaders capable of navigating the financial, operational, and strategic complexities of modern healthcare systems. Her work continues to reflect her passion for education, leadership development, and the advancement of equitable healthcare for all.
