Biography
Dr. Cave is an Assistant Professor and the Department Chair for Family Nursing at Frontier Nursing University. She holds an Associate Degree in Nursing from Isothermal Community College (1994), a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Gardner-Webb University (2006), a Master of Science in Nursing (2007), and a Doctorate of Nursing Practice (2010) from Frontier Nursing University.
Dr. Cave began her teaching career at Frontier Nursing University in 2012, where she has instructed graduate students in Nursing Theory, Nursing Research, the Role of the Nurse Practitioner, Primary Care II, and Clinical Practicum. In 2022, she was appointed Clinical Director of the Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) Department and assumed the role of Department Chair in 2024.
Clinically, Dr. Cave has served in primary care at Blue Ridge Community Health Services, a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) from 2012 to 2023, and is currently working as an FNP for TeamHealth, serving residents in long-term care facilities. Her research focuses on diagnosing and treating pediatric obesity in primary care, with presentations at conferences such as the Southern Nursing Research Society, the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners, and the Doctor of Nursing Practice Conference. She has also presented on common primary care concerns at the Kentucky Association of Nurse Practitioners and Nurse-Midwives.
Dr. Cave is an active member of Sigma Theta Tau, the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, the National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties, the North Carolina Nurses Association.
