Biography

I have been a full scope CNM for the last 26 years. My first practice was a physician-managed hospital practice of ten years at Choices West in upstate NY. My second and current practice is a midwifery managed alongside midwifery unit and hospital practice in Tucson, Arizona. I have participated in contract negotiations for the midwifery practice which is part of a larger FQHC. I currently teach Neonatal Resuscitation and am a CenteringPregnancy facilitator. My educational background consists of: Doctor of Nursing Practice, FNU 2014; Master of Nursing, State University of New York, Stonybrook, 1998; and Bachelor of Nursing, Boston College, 1984. Teaching is something I am passionate about and once I obtained my DNP it became my goal to teach advanced practice nurses and specifically midwives. Over twenty years of hospital and birth center experience has given me the knowledge and experience that I now feel I can share confidently with my students. My area of expertise is ante/intra/postpartal care as well as CenteringPregnancy. My second love is Quality Improvement - its hard work but exciting, never dull, and constantly a challenge. Lastly I am married to a wonderfully supportive husband with three adult children who now finally all live on the west coast. I have played in the Foothills Philharmonic for five years and volunteered at the Botanical gardens here in Tucson. I am an avid outdoors person and enjoy most outdoor activities but especially hiking, biking, and swimming.
