Biography

Monica was born and raised in El Paso, Texas and received her Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from the University of Texas at El Paso. She worked as a Labor and Delivery nurse for 4 years, providing care to mostly underserved high-risk patients along the Mexican border before moving to Salt Lake City, Utah to attend graduate school. She earned her Doctorate of Nursing degree from the University of Utah in 2013, specializing in Women’s Health and Midwifery. She has provided midwifery care in Arizona, Utah, and then back to Texas with experience in hospital and out -of- hospital birth. Monica lives in Fort Worth, Texas with her husband Cody and four kids. Monica joined FNU in 2017 as RCF for Texas area students and has increased her time to serve students as course faculty in the CNEP program. She is passionate about empowering others with knowledge and working with students to expand the midwifery profession and increase midwifery care to others.
