Dr. Engstrom is a Certified Nurse-Midwife and a Women’s Healthcare Nurse Practitioner, and has worked in the area of women’s health and maternal-newborn nursing for over 40 years. Her clinical experience includes providing prenatal care, postnatal care, and family planning services, as well as gynecological, reproductive endocrinology, and infertility services. She is also a human milk and lactation researcher. She has published 87 papers in peer-reviewed journals. She has also written several book chapters, and was an editor of the award winning book, Prenatal and Postnatal Care: A Woman Centered Approach. Dr. Engstrom has taught nurses, nurse-midwives and nurse practitioners for over 35 years and won numerous awards for her teaching. Her teaching has focused on reproductive physiology, fertility control, prenatal and postnatal care, as well as epidemiology, and biostatistics.
