Biography

Dr. Williamitis is a board certified Nurse Practitioner in Acute Care, Family, and Family Psychiatric Mental Health. She has experience in critical care, cardiac surgery, critical care transport, geriatrics, psychiatric mental health and adolescent and adult eating disorders. She is a veteran of the US Air Force and was a flight nurse. She received her ADN in nursing from Kettering College of Medical Arts, her BSN from Columbia Union College, MSN from the University of Cincinnati, in critical care and as an Acute Care NP and a post Master’s certificate as a Family NP from the University of Louisville. She also earned a Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP) in Psychiatric Mental Health from the University of Tennessee and a PhD from the University of Kentucky. Dr. Williamitis has several years as full- time faculty in a DNP program and was the Director of the Psychiatric Mental Health NP program at Brandman University. She continues to work as a PMHNP in an inpatient psychiatric unit as well as an outpatient clinic for mechanical heart patients. Her research interests include the use of cognitive behavior therapy in patients who have undergone left ventricular assist device implantation and behavior management in dementia.
