Companion DNP
Dear Frontier Student:
Congratulations! You are receiving this letter because you recently finished or are about to finish either a post-graduate certificate program or a master’s program at FNU! I’d like to commend you on the completion of a rigorous education program and the beginning of a new career. I’d also like to extend an invitation to you to consider culminating your Frontier journey with the completion of your Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree. The DNP is a terminal clinical degree that extends your formal education by achieving advanced competencies in leadership, education, clinical excellence, quality improvement, evidenced based practice and health policy.
There are many advantages to pursuing your DNP at Frontier. Among those advantages include a seamless and efficient admission into a program at a university that you already know. For those of you who have completed PC 702, PC 713 and PC 718 in your MSN or PGC program, becoming a “companion” DNP student has financial advantages as you have already completed 9 credits toward the DNP degree and can transition directly into the doctorate program from your MSN or Certificate program. Lessons learned in the DNP program will assist you with accelerating your ability to lead and effect change in your community and most importantly, the attainment of the DNP degree will give you that “competitive edge” as you enter the job market.
If I’ve piqued your interest, but you still have questions, I’d like to invite you to join in a couple of BBB sessions designed to give you more information about the DNP Program and Clinical Project. On Wednesday, November 15 at 7 pm (eastern) Dr. Jolles and I will be joined by other DNP faculty members to present a general session on why you would consider a DNP. Immediately following that session, Dr. Jolles, and other course coordinators for the DNP project courses will present a session about the DNP Clinical Project. Both sessions will be in the DNP Room in BBB. You may attend either session live or access a recording of the session later.
If the time is NOW to pursue your DNP, you must register for the program during regular registration Monday, November 13-Monday November 27, 2017 and attend DNP Bound virtually on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings, December 12 and 13, 2017. Please contact me or your academic adviser if you have questions!
