We are looking for a passionate, experienced, and dedicated Midwife to join our team.

 

Position Summary:

  • The Midwife will work alongside our team of experienced professionals to provide exceptional care in a holistic, comfortable, and safe environment. You will be responsible for assisting with prenatal care, delivering babies, and supporting postpartum recovery in a patient-centered atmosphere. You will also educate and empower families by providing evidence-based information and emotional support through their birthing experience.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive prenatal, labor, birth, and postpartum care for expectant families in our freestanding birth center.
  • Conduct routine prenatal visits, offering assessments, education, and support.
  • Assist and guide families through labor and birth in a non-hospital setting, ensuring safety and comfort.
  • Perform post-birth assessments and provide postpartum care for both mother and newborn.
  • Offer lactation support, postpartum education, and follow-up care.
  • Collaborate with the medical and administrative teams to ensure patient care is well-coordinated.
  • Stay informed on best practices and current guidelines for midwifery care.
  • CNMs provide well person and well women care.
  • Maintain thorough, accurate, and up-to-date medical records.
  • Attend quarterly all-staff meetings, and weekly midwife meetings.
  • Participate in three clinical drills per year.
  • Complete birth statistics documentation using AABC’s Perinatal Data Registry (PDR).

 

Qualifications:

  • Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) or Licensed Midwife (LM) with current or eligible for licensure in Minnesota.
  • A minimum of 1 years of experience in midwifery practice (preferred).
  • A minimum of 1 years of experience in a birth center or homebirth setting (preferred).
  • Current CPR, NRP, and other relevant certifications.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Passionate about providing compassionate, family-centered care in a birth center environment.
  • Comfort with holistic and evidence-based approaches to maternity care.
  • Be within 30 minutes from the birth center when on-call.
  • Proficient use of EMR; ability to learn Athena charting system.
  • Have a cell phone.


Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to walk up and down stairs repeatedly.
  • Must be flexible enough to attend births in a variety of positions – including but not limited to kneeling/squatting/waterbirth/hands and knees/etc.
