As we navigate these tough times, we also celebrate the month of June as LGBT Pride Month, Caribbean Heritage Month, as well as its special days commemorating Black culture and Puerto Rican culture. This month, we highlight LGBT CNM Gretchen Wetzel who worked at Mount Sinai Hospital in Hartford, CT, Caribbean CNM Phyllis Lynn, Director of Midwifery Services at Maimonides Health Center in Brooklyn, NY, and late Puerto Rican CNM Nivia Nieves Fisch (https://minoritynurse.com/21st-century-midwives/) , who was one of only two working in the Rio Grande Valley in Mexico.
