Master Preceptor Course

Frontier Nursing University (FNU) is continuing to provide training to clinical preceptors with this preceptor-training course, The Master Preceptor. At FNU we are aware and appreciative of the importance of the clinical preceptor to the success of students. Ultimately this leads to high quality care for clients through the hands of advanced practice nurses. Today's practicing nurse-midwives and nurse practitioners have broad responsibilities and work under time and accountability pressures that are unprecedented. This course is offered as a guide and resource building on the first educational programing, The Gift of Precepting. If you have not yet completed the modules for The Gift of Precepting you will need to do so before progressing on.

The course is divided into six modules. The first module is an overview of how FNU certified preceptors may progress to  Master Preceptor status. The next four modules are designed to apply to any certified preceptor working with students and can be done as a whole or one module at a time. The final module is a presentation by Dr. Mimi Secor on stress management.

One of the requirements for the American College of Nurse-Midwives (ACNM) is that all preceptors participate in preceptor training. This course has been approved by the ACNM as a CE for preceptor training for .2 CE/2 contact hours. This CE credit can also be applied toward FNP and WHNP continuing certification. If you are interested in receiving CE for this preceptor training, you must Register, complete the modules and complete the final evaluation.

Precepting is a gift. It is an opportunity to share the many things you have learned as a provider with future providers who will reach an even wider population in the world. During the experience of certified precepting, many advanced practitioners find that they are afforded the opportunity to impact many others as they continue to grow professionally
